Veterinarian & Veterinary Medical Director (Medical Director position filled):  The Humane Society of Berks County, Reading and Douglassville, PA, seeks a veterinarian and a veterinary medical director to join the expanding veterinary practice of our award winning animal welfare organization. Veterinary Technician: The Humane Society of Berks County, Reading and Douglassville, PA, seeks knowledgeable, compassionate technicians to add to our growing practices both Reading and Douglassville offices.

CVT is a plus but not necessary for experienced applicants. We prefer at least 1 yr years experience in anesthesia. Must be able to lift pets up to 50 lbs +. Must be able to multi-task, have good verbal skills. Must work at least one evening shift a week –flexibility is a plus!! Must work Saturdays on a rotational basis.

Surgical Technician Duties:

• proficient venipuncture & catheter placement
• induction  maintenance, recovery of surgical patients
  reading EKG's
• calculating & administering drugs
• running blood & cytology samples
• surgery/hospital discharges
• patient treatments
• nursing care
• initiating fluid therapies
• performing dental prophies
• radiography
• client education
• running appointments
• Blood withdrawals

Clinical Hours responsibilities:

• greeting & bringing clients into exam rooms
• getting medical histories
• running lab samples
• restraint of patients for exams
• filling prescriptions
• client education
• blood withdrawal
• radiography

Adoption Counselor (position filled): The Humane Society of Berks County, Reading and Douglassville, PA, seeks Adoption Counselors.  This entry level position involves extensive customer service interaction.  Position includes adoption counseling and facilitation, animals intake services, general information, event support, and clerical duties.
