The Humane Society of Berks County is a private, non-profit, charitable organization (501c3). All of our funding comes from direct charitable gifts and service fees. We are not a part of any regional or national animal welfare group (HSUS, AHA, ASPCA, etc.) and we receive no operating funding from any of these groups. We rely on people like you to make our work possible!
We hope that you will consider supporting our mission through a direct financial donation, attendance at one of our special events, by donating goods or services in support of our work, by donating your valuable time as a volunteer, by choosing to take advantage of our programs and services, by recognizing the HSBC in your estate plans, or by spreading the word about the great work being done for animals and their people at the HSBC.
We have several ways for you to give:
- Click here to make an secure online donation to HSBC.
- If you would like to mail your donation, you may do so at any time or you may download one of our recent mail appeals (which will include all correspondence details and information about our programs and services).
- If you would like to recognize the HSBC in your estate planning or will, you may wish to join the Lindy Scholar Legacy Society. This wonderful program, named in honor of late former executive director Lindy Scholar, allows the HSBC to recognize and thank those who have chosen to make a special gift to the animals while they are still with us.
- If you would like to make a donation of goods or services, you may wish to read the HSBC's "Wish List". This lists a broad variety of vitally needed items ranging from office supplies to major capital improvement needs.
- If you'd like to make a donation and have a great time, join us for one of our special fundraising events. The HSBC's events don't just raise vital funds for the animals, they are a bunch of fun, too! There are events, large and small, going on throughout the year.
- Save your Redners receipts! The Redners Save-A-Tape program is a painless way to help us raised thousands of dollars each year just by doing your normal grocery shopping! Details are available here.
Would you like to know more about the Humane Society of Berks County and our programs before you decide? Why not join us for one of our Welcome Waggin' Tours? Welcome Waggin' Tours are one-hour, behind-the-scenes tours of the HSBC's Reading shelter. You get a chance to learn about the great things going on at the shelter, meet the great staff and volunteers making it possible, and learn about our plans for the future. Best of all, Welcome Waggin' Tours are 100% "leave-your-checkbooks-at-home" events and we promise to get you in one hour sharp. Our goal is to educate you (and perhaps have you educate us some!). Tours are constantly being added and take place on weekdays and weekends, mid-day and after business hours, so there is a time for everyone to join us.
